  2. Import .csv file to Microsoft Outlook email client
  3. Map Excel columns with appropriate Outlook fields

Step 1: Save the Excel Spreadsheet in CSV File Format

Microsoft Outlook supports CSV files as address book to be imported within it but, it does not supports workbook with several sheets. This is the reason why we are initially saving Excel sheet in CSV file format. You can take help of following steps to execute this task:

a)  Open the worksheet in Microsoft Excel that comprises of contact information within it. The address book information will be the one, which you want to move in MS Outlook 2010

b)  Go to File menu of current program and choose Save As option from the list

c)  Click on the Save as Type drop-down button and select CSV (Comma delimited) option

d)  If you want to change the default location and name of resultant file then, do that; else directly click on Save

e)  A warning message appears in which Excel states that some workbook features might get lost if the file gets saved in CSV format. You need to click on OK to continue with transferring of contacts from Excel to Outlook 2010

f)  Click Yes for saving the MS Excel spreadsheet in CSV format. This will automatically close the opened XLSX / XLS file.

g)  Now you have to manually close the CSV file and proceed to next major step i.e., importing of CSV in Microsoft Outlook 2010

Step 2 : Import CSV File in MS Outlook 2010

a)  If you want to transfer address book information in the existing Contacts folder of Outlook then, directly jump to step (c)

b)  You can right-click on Contacts folder and click on New Folder from the list. Mention the name of newly created folder and then finish by clicking on OK

 

Newc)  Click on File menu of Microsoft Outlook and click Open to explore the further menu. This will continue procedure to transfer Excel address book to Outlook

d)  An Import panel gets opened in which you have to select Import from another program or file and click Next

e)  From the list of file options, choose Comma Separated Values (Windows) and click Next

f)  Click on Browse button and locate the path where source CSV file is saved. Select the file and click on OK button

g)  Select the ‘Do not import duplicate items’ radio button and then, hit on Next

h)  Choose the Microsoft Outlook address book mailbox in which you want to transfer contacts and click on Next button

i)  Finally, you are done with CSV file importing now it is the time to map the contact field. For this, you have to follow major step (3) of procedure to transfer contacts from Excel to Outlook 2010

Step 3 : Map Contact Fields Between CSV and Outlook

  1. On the current screen, click on Map Custom Field button

2.  Map the fields of CSV file with Microsoft Office Outlook contacts attributes

3.  Click on OK button to get back to the importing pane

4.  Hit Finish on the current screen and proceed with procedure to import Excel address book to Outlook

5.  This will begin moving of contacts in Outlook contact mailbox. You can have a look on current status on the same pane
