Nightwish, a symphonic metal band from Finland, is perhaps the most famous band with a female lead singer. Founded in 1996 by Tuomas Holopainen, Emppu Vuorinen, and Tarja Turunen, Nightwish quickly gained popularity with Turunen’s classically trained, operatic voice. Formed in 2009, Jinjer’s music blends elements of metalcore, progressive metal, and groove metal, characterized by complex rhythms and aggressive instrumentation.

Shmailyuk’s versatile voice, capable of both clean singing and intense growling, has set Jinjer apart in the metal scene. Halestorm, an American hard rock and heavy metal band, was formed in 1997 by siblings Lzzy and Arejay Hale. Lzzy Hale, the band’s lead vocalist and guitarist, is known for her powerful voice and commanding stage presence. Halestorm’s music blends elements of hard rock, heavy metal, and alternative rock, characterized by catchy melodies and energetic performances.

Albums like The Strange Case Of…, Into the Wild Life, and Vicious have earned Halestorm critical and commercial success. Lzzy Hale’s vocal range and versatility, along with the band’s dynamic songwriting, have made them a prominent name in the modern rock and metal scenes.

In This Moment

In This Moment, an American metalcore band formed in 2005, is fronted by vocalist Maria Brink. Known for their theatrical live shows and visually striking music videos, In This Moment combines elements of metalcore, industrial, and alternative metal. Brink’s powerful and emotive voice is a central element of the band’s sound.

Albums like The Dream, Blood, and Black Widow showcase In This Moment’s evolution from metalcore to a more experimental and theatrical style. Brink’s dynamic vocal performances, along with the band’s willingness to push boundaries, have earned them a dedicated fanbase and critical acclaim.

The Agonist

The Agonist, a Canadian melodic death metal and metalcore band, was formed in 2004 and is known for its technical proficiency and aggressive sound. Initially fronted by Alissa White-Gluz, the band’s early work, including Once Only Imagined and Lullabies for the Dormant Mind, showcased White-Gluz’s impressive growling and clean singing abilities.

After White-Gluz’s departure to join Arch Enemy, Vicky Psarakis took over as the band’s lead vocalist. Psarakis has continued The Agonist’s tradition of powerful and versatile vocals, contributing to albums like Eye of Providence, Five, and Orphans.
